John J. Plinio passed away on May 13, 2014, at the age of 93. John was a longtime resident of Oradell, NJ. Beloved husband of the late Naomi (nee Prior, 1997) and the late Mary Ann (nee Lyddon, 2010). Devoted father of Stephanie Hudson & husband Alan of Weathersfield, VT, John J. Plinio, Jr. & wife Donna of Andover, NJ, Richard Plinio & fiancée Mary Ann of Ringwood, NJ, and Robert Plinio & wife Heidi of Dumont, NJ. Devoted stepfather of Scott Lyddon & wife Linda of Pooler, GA, Robin Hartman & husband Stephen of Old Tappan, NJ, Jane Gedeon & husband Steven of Oradell, NJ and Nancy McIlvaine & husband Howard of Freehold, NJ. Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Loving brother of late sister Margaret Sgambati of Edgewater, NJ, Marie Cummins of San Antonio, TX and brother-in-law of Gil Sgambati. Before retiring in 1988, he was employed in the Schiffli Embroidery Industry for 50 years. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Oradell, NJ and a Eucharistic Minister for over 25 years. He was a guiding light to his entire family and his unconditional love and support will be greatly missed by all. His open heart, caring nature and quick laughter drew people to him and his passing will be deeply felt by his many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph School, 305 Elm Street, Oradell, NJ would be appreciated. Visitation from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Basralian Funeral Home, Oradell, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Elm Street, Oradell, NJ on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10 am. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Washington Twp., NJ. Rest in peace Dad, John, Grandad, Grandpa and best friend.
