Rose Marie Rafti (nee Dufresne) was born on September 13, 1929 and passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2013 surrounded by family. Rose was a resident of Dumont for over 50 years and resided in Tenafly, New Jersey at the time of her passing. Rose lived a very full life. For many years, she was a local bank teller thought highly of by her customers. She enjoyed antiquing, visiting with friends and shopping for bargains with her daughter. She was her son’s biggest fan at his soccer and baseball games. Her grandchildren remember her most fondly for her delicious chicken soup and for being their most ‘hip’ and cool Grandma, a title she was proud of. Rose cherished the many life-long friendships that she maintained through her passing.
Rose is survived by the love of her life her husband of 64 years John Rafti, 94. Her children: daughter Diane Polley and husband Robert Smith (Essex, MA), and her son John Rafti and his wife Karen (Dumont, NJ). And her grandchildren: Krista Brinchek (Raleigh, NC), Timothye Polley (Raleigh, NC), Allison Whitaker (Washington, DC), Lauren Rafti (Dumont, NJ) and Gregory Polley (Washington, DC), as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Noah and Evan Brinchek and Matthew and Briana Polley.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Therese, Cresskill NJ on Saturday, November 2, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers if you wish, Rose would be honored with a donation made to the charity of your choice.
