Monte J. Saunders age 77 of Teaneck formerly of Freeport, NY died Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Beloved husband of June (nee) Lopez. Devoted father of Christine and Kimberly Saunders. Dear brother of Elaine Lloyd. Devoted uncle of Julie, James, Ali-Sha, Shaka, Aaron, Shondra, and Chaniece. Dear brother-in-law of Elissa Thompson and Ramona Gilliard. Monte’s warm heart and loving personality will always be cherished by his many loving family members and friends. For over 35 years, Monte served as a Parole Officer for the State of New York. A highly decorated officer, he was awarded the Medal of Valor from New York State in 1984. He also spent over 20 years devoting himself as a counselor at the West Bergen Mental Health Care Center. Before embarking on his career, he served as a Military Police Officer in the US Army and later graduated from Long Island University. Family and friends are invited to visit Monday 10-11AM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck. A service will commence at 11AM. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Hackensack.
