Camilla Arrington Boyer passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, at Van Dyk Manor in Ridgewood, NJ. A 56 year resident of Teaneck, NJ, Camilla was born in Rochester, NY, on December 30, 1915, to Samuel M. and Daisy L. Crowe Arrington. She graduated from LeRoy High School, LeRoy, NY, in 1933, and from Harlem Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, NY in 1937. She pursued her nursing career at Harlem Hospital from 1937-1955 as a staff nurse, head nurse, and clinical instructor. After moving to New Jersey, she worked at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ where she was a staff and private duty nurse (1958-1966) and, ultimately, night nursing supervisor (1966-1979). She retired from Holy Name Hospital in 1979. Camilla was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Harlem Hospital Alumni Association. She was also active in her local community serving as a member of several Parent Teacher Associations; the Chairperson of the Bergen County Democratic Committee; the District Cookie Sales Chair for the Girl Scouts of Bergen County; a member of the Order of the Evergreen of the Girl Scouts of Bergen County; and a Holy Name Hospital Hospice Volunteer. Camilla enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting, crochet, reading, playing piano, visiting with her daughters, and social gatherings with friends and family. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Adolph F. Boyer; and three of her siblings (Samuel M. Arrington, Jr., Ralph T. Arrington, and Winifred Arrington Majors). Camilla is survived by her daughters Michele C. Boyer (and partner Mardel Miller) of Terre Haute, IN and Denise A. Boyer (and partner Loretta Imbrogno) of Upper Montclair, NJ; her step children Adrienne Boyer Ringling of Clermont, FL, and Anthony J. “Tony” Boyer (and partner Judith “Kandy” Snow) of Bronx, NY; her siblings John C. Arrington (and wife Thelma) of Webster, NY, Kermit Arrington of LeRoy, NY, James Lloyd Arrington, of New York, NY, and Phyllis Arrington Jackson of LeRoy, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Holy Name Medical Center Hospice Program, c/o Holy Name Medical Center Foundation, 718 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck, NJ 07666. Visitation will be at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck, NJ, on Friday, November 16, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and a gathering of remembrance on Saturday, November 17, at 9:00 a.m., followed by interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings on Hudson, NY.
